Above the Clouds
I would consider myself a rich man. I spend my weekends doing what I want, which is having fun. Most weekends in the winter months you’ll be able to find me at Sugarloaf. I love it there, the Maine Outing Club has a cabin, and I would consider that my second home- the first one being the one I grew up in, and the dorms, well those are really just where I stay when I have class in the morning. As great as the weekends are, I always make a point to enjoy my weekdays too. I have always believed that if you are not making the most out of what you have been given, then you are simply selling yourself short.
I like to listen to soulful music with poetic quotes. When I read, I prefer books with philosophies of which Buddha would agree with. As far as fear, I prefer extreme sports over scary movies any day of the week. Out of my comfort-zone just happens to be where I find myself having the most fun. I also think that there is a lot that can be learned about yourself, your environments, and your beliefs when participating in these “risky” activities. Really it’s all about self-awareness.
I spend most of my weekends:
1. Skiing
&
2. Climbing
I spend an enormous amount of time outside. When I am not doing either of the two previously mentioned activities, I am probably enjoying my time outside; slacklining, hiking, canoeing, biking, skateboarding, surfing, or kayaking. I even prefer to do my homework in the great outdoors rather than inside like many individuals. I hope to someday take what I know about the outdoors and my love of these activities and make a living out of it. I would prefer if these activities did not become my actual job, but rather a compliment to it. These are my escapes, and if I were to turn these into work then I think I would feel trapped. This is who I am, and I am not a sell out.
